Rodeo Recap: August 19 - 25
Big Rodeos Stay in the Northwest
The summer run may be quieting to an end, but some of summer’s biggest rodeos are yet to come and nearly all continue to take place in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a four-hour drive from Bremerton, Washington to Kennewick, Washington and between the two rodeos, over $550,000 was up for grabs.
From Kennewick, it’s about a two-and-a-half hour drive to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho for the Gem State Stampede where prize money totaled nearly $161,000. For contestants who traveled south, Tremonton, Utah’s Golden Spike Rodeo offered an additional $240,000 in winnings.
As has been the case all summer, contestants competing in multiple rodeos consistently turn out on top, earning themselves a solid position in the World Standings’ top-15.
As the summer run continues, we’ll bring you the highlights of the previous week’s events, keeping you updated on the shuffle in standings and who brings the heat to summer’s biggest rodeos.
